Both SD Duel and SD Astray Gold Frame is an old kit, not new ones. And it’s been a while now that I plan to SB this part, but never really got around it till now.
I’ll try to take as many photograph as I can to document the progress as well as provide illustration to describe the steps so this post can be a sort of tutorial for you. Think of it as a continuation of our discussion about pla-plates and pla-beam.
Step 2: Cut out the pattern (sort of a triangle shape). Take care when cutting it to ensure you don’t break it.
Step 4: Glue this part along with a 5mm hollow round pla beam along with 2x2 square pla beam on the top and 2 2mm triangle pla beam on each side. Make sure the square pla beam is longer (around 6 1/4 inches), while the round and triangle pla beam are around 2 inches. Don’t glue the square and triangle pla beam all the way to the end, but leave just a bit of the round pla beam, this way the protruding section can fit into the hole of the part you made in step 1-3.
Step 5: Cut out a pla plate in rectangle shape, where the width is 2 inches and the height is the length of the side of the part you made in step 1-3.
Step 6: Glue this pieces in the area suggested by the picture.
Step 8: Cut out 4 pieces pla plate into the shape suggested by the picture
Step 10: Cut more 2x2 square pla beam and glue it in the position suggested by the picture (also use the pic to approximate how long each pieces should be). Also cut out 4 new pieces of pla plate into the shape suggested by the picture.
Step 12: Glue each 2 pieces together and glue the resulting 2 pieces on each side of the bazooka in the position suggested by the picture.
Step 14: Put the piece you created in step 13 in the position suggested and push thrugh a metal axis (I used a straighten paper clip) through the pieces in 13 and 13. This way, this part can rotate on this metal axis.
Step 15: Glue the remaining pentagram pieces from step 8 together and glue it to the bazooka in the position suggested by the picture. Then cut 2 pieces of round 2mm pla beam around the length between the front and back pentagram pieces.
Step 16: Glue the round pla beam from step 15 in the position suggested by the picture.
Alrighty! Let’s take a little break. We will pick up where we left off in part 2 of this tutorial. Hopefully this will give you a clearer step by step walk through of how to scratch build this weapon for your kit. You can definitely scale it bigger and give this to other scale plamo as well. If you have any question or if there’s any section that’s not very clear, please feel free to comment below. I will try to check it as often as I can and reply any question you might have.
